The final traces of the Korean Empire, hidden in Dongdaemun-gu
Located in Cheongnyangni-dong, Yeonghuiwon & Sunginwon is the grave of the Imperial Noble Consort Sunheon, a cohort of Emperor Gojong. The area, stretching out for 53,000 square meters, is home to two graves of the Korean Empire's royal family. Yeonghuiwon is the grave of Consort Sunheon, while Sunginwon is where Yi Jin's soul rests, the first son of Prince Imperial Yeong. The location is not too big and is rarely known by tourists. Hence, the area is usually popular among local residents as a charming walking trail to appreciate the changing seasons.
