The bridge between gods and humans, the oldest ongoing festival in Korea
The Gangneung Danoje, also a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, is a Korean traditional festival that boasts a history of 1,000 years. In 2023, the Gangneung Danoje will take place from June 18th to 25th, for a total of eight days. Numerous interesting events will be taking place, including the Korean shaman or gut culture, as well as folk plays, ancestral rituals, and traditional markets. The ancestors of Korea believed the Dano to be the most fruitful season of the year, while the date is also one of Korea’s four major holidays.
