Nanshuji is home to the memorial towers of Sen no Rikyū and his mentor, who meaningfully established the Japanese tea ceremony culture. Sen no Rikyū claimed that as you drink tea and meditate, your mind will focus and your energy will revive. Nanshuji is also the temple that is inferred to be the site where Tokugawa Ieyasu was buried.
