The grand achievement of the Shilla Dynasty, carrying a history of 1,000 years
Bulguksa, a Gyeongju travel landmark and also a UNESCO world heritage site, is a historical Buddhist temple that was constructed in 774 during the Shilla Dynasty. Substantially damaged during the Japanese invasions of Korea, the temple went through continuous national efforts in reconstruction and preservation, resulting in its appearance of today. At Bulguksa, there are numerous national treasures from the Shilla Dynasty, which makes it a must visit site if you desire to learn about the culture and history of Shilla during your trip to Gyeongju.
